Chiffon Cake Recipes

Another baking post for #TuesdayTips, I can’t help it as a pastry chef. I mean it was my job to bake. Baking brings me joy, but I also loving cooking and baking with my son as part of our learning. It really is educational.

Anywho, Chiffon cake is a special and difficult type of cake. A chiffon cake is a very light cake made with vegetable oil, eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and flavorings. Being made with vegetable oil, instead of a traditional solid fat such as butter or shortening, it is easier to beat air into the batter. They are baked in a tall pan with at least four inches deep and must be cooled upside down to retain their height. They use the meringue process to keep their height. They also use a special pan that allows all parts of the cake to be baked evenly, as seen in the picture above. Have fun using the recipes below and tasting the deliciousness after your lesson.
