How to make Sourdough- even with no yeast

So I recently shared our easy sourdough starter recipe. It’s still going, and honestly considering selling the starter for those who are interested in making your own bread. But here’s the thing, I’ve been asked or at least seen in recent weeks that there is a lack of yeast in the grocery stores due to the Coronavirus. The good news is that you can still get yeast with out buying the jar or packet. Yup, that’s right. Now I have seen someone else post about how they just left it out to get the yeast going, I’ve never tried that and not sure how that would work but I have made a sourdough cultivating the yeast from the environment using dry fruits like grapes. It will take a few days longer to get going but it works just the same.

Instead of a giving the yeast like in the recipe below. You will put the grapes (3-5 are fine) in the water with flour. I do 1/2 cup each just to get it started. Cover and leave in a warm place for 48-72 hours before scooping the grapes out and feeding your stater. You will still want to feed your starter twice a day for 3-5 days prior to using to make sure its flavorful. Let me know if it works for you or if your interested in buying a jar of starter.
